Bryn Mawr Addiction Counseling

Cognitive Behavioral Counseling provides substance use treatment and addiction counseling for Substance Use Disorders (SUD), co-occurring disorders and behavioral addictions (gambling, video games, shopping, eating). At Cognitive Behavioral Counseling, we set our patients up for success. Your psychologist will collaborate with you to design a lifestyle that is low risk and relapse free.

Violating Values

While drugs, alcohol, gambling, shopping, eating and sex provide short-term relief from unwanted feelings, they also come at a significant cost. Attempts to avoid emotional pain can result in a violation of ones inner most values and negatively impacts spiritual and relational well-being. And here-in lies the problem. Making decisions inconsistent with ones values notoriously leads to feelings of guilt and shame, the hallmarks of addiction.

At cognitive behavioral counseling, we will work with you to reconnect with your values and become the person you value inside. You will learn to regulate typically avoided emotions so that your life choices are consistent with who you see yourself as.

Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP)

Throughout therapy you will also be exposed to mindfulness-based interventions to help reduce racing thoughts, learn to “surf the wave” of cravings and be present when it matters.

It is time to make a change for you and your family. Call Dr. Berman at 484-401-7380 or book an appointment to take steps towards making a true change!
